Marinade

I was so proud of myself because before I left for work I pounded out the boneless skinless chicken breasts (they cook faster if they are thinner) and put them in a marinade. This is my absolute most favorite marinade of all time (and it is cheap too!). I asked for it from my friend's mom (she is an amazing cook) and found out that she got it off of an old soy sauce bottle.

Soy Sauce Marinade
(this can be used for chicken, steaks, or even fish!)
1/2 c. soy sauce
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 Tbsp. oil
Garlic (to taste)

Here's a picture of my beautiful chicken in the marinade:What a great start to the day! I hoping that my dh will be able to grill them tonight to have with steamed vegetables. The leftover chicken will be used tomorrow for bbq chicken sandwiches. Yum!

Nine months!

It has been nine months since we have gotten married! The time has just flown by. We did not do much to commemorate it, other than our usual dinner time Bible study. I have been busy filling out applications and he has been busy working at building some furniture for his family and drafting our future house. Luckily, reading the Bible after dinner was suggested to us during our premarital counseling. It has been so wonderful for us. It is something that we can consistently do almost everyday (at least that is the goal). We currently use a couple's devotional Bible that has devotions all through it. We have found that the questions they ask help us to stay focused on keeping our marriage strong. It is so easy even after just nine months to slip into bad habits of only finding fault with each other. When I go back to the Word though, it always helps me see things more clearly.
Matthew 7:3-5 keeps it in perspective:

3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

If you are looking for ways to bless your dh, go here for some inspiration. I know I was inspired! What do you do to show your dh you care?

Homemade Pizza

Today I decided to try and make homemade pizza. I have been so inspired by moneysavingmom that I used her recipe which you can see here. I was able to use pizza sauce which I got on sale at Owen's (owned by Kroger's). I used wheat flour instead of bleached flour and only a half a teaspoon of salt. It actually came out amazingly well! I have never made dough other than when I was really little, so I have been so proud of myself all evening. My dh didn't even mind the wheat flour. It made a really large pizza and we have a lot left. Leftovers are always welcome in our house as my dh works construction and burns a lot of calories. Many days he brings his lunch which is nice on the wallet and helps empty the fridge. Next time I will make a double or triple batch and freeze some. I'll post some pictures then. The extra bonus is it gives you a good arm workout!
